How did you get into DJing?
My father was a DJ, so growing up I was always around music. My earliest memories are being in record shops listening to records from Strictly Rhythm, Nervous and others. Unlike most kids, I never discovered electronic music, that’s all I ever listened too. Obviously with this environment, It was only a matter of time before I started hopping on to a pair of technics and playing my favourite tracks, I think the earliest time I remember djing was about 8.
Where was your first ever gig?
My first gig was a birthday party when I was about 12, I had a pair of really early cdjs with broken screens and some old belt drive turntables, But I had a big Peavey PA which manages to get the place rocking.
What drew you into a career as a DJ and music producer?
As I said earlier, Its just been my life, Since I’ve been about 12 I don’t think I’ve gone a week without either making a song or doing a mix or something music related.
What is your favourite house genre?
Disco House
As a DJ what house genres do you specialise in?
Disco House, Jackin House, Funky House, Italo Disco and Classic House
How did you start producing and what gave you the motivation to keep going with it?
I started producing at a young age, as a gamer, I had a game called Music 2000 on the PS1, It was famous for having groups like So Solid Crew using it to make songs. It was very primitive but you got to learn the basics of production of a range of genres that were big in the late 90s. After a year or 2 I managed to get Cubase on my pc, which moved my learning on. As all creative people, you go through stages of taking breaks or needing to take a step back. But with me I just have to create something, it’s a very important outlet for me to be able to express myself.
How would you describe the music you produce?
I like to make music that has its own style, I hate following trends, and I like to make what I feel. This generally goes from making very funky and happy, energetic music, to very hard hitting house and techno (Not for the Kibou project but maybe I’ll put these tracks out one day under another name)
What is the name of the next track you have coming out? release date?
I’m working on a new remix of a disco classic that will be out very soon. While making some more house orientated songs that will be finding homes on labels soon.
Do you play any musical instruments?
Piano and Keyboard and some Drums
Who would you like to collaborate with as a producer and why?
I’ve been very interested in finding a vocalist to work on a project for a while now, It would be a completely different sound but I’m still just searching for a voice I like.
What is your favourite festival of all time?
I’ve been to so many, but one of my best memories was probably was a festival in the south of England called Boomtown, `I had my crazy nights there which I still struggle to remember.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Keep active & Keep Moving Forward
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Way too many, but I’ll stick to one. Artists hiring Ghost producers. Too many artists in the electronic music scene simply don’t make their own music. Especially now in this tech-house boom. I can name 5 artists in that genre that just don’t make a single track
If you were talking to a younger version of you, what career advice would you give yourself?
Don’t spend too much time on projects! And do make what makes you happy
What’s your favourite animal and why?
Dogs. Probably the Silliest/funniest
What do you like about working with Exigo Records?
A great team of genuinely good people all working towards the same goal.
